What You Need To Know About Bail Bonds
Bail bond essentially acts as an insurance policy whereby the bail bond company guarantees to the court that the person obtaining the bail bond will make all of their required appearances. If the individual appears in court as ordered, then the bail bond is never in jeopardy. However, if the individual fails to appear, the bail bond company is notified of this by the court. At that time, the bail bond company must surrender that individual back into custody. If the bail bond company fails to surrender that person back into custody, then they are forced to pay the entire amount of the bail bond to the court.
What is a bail bondsman?
A bail bondsman or bail bond agent is any person or corporation that will act as a surety and pledge money or property as bail for the appearance of persons accused in court.
How long before someone can be bailed out of jail?
When a person if arrested they are typically taken to a police station where they are fingerprinted & photographed as part of the arrest process. Bail can then be arranged once booking process is complete.
How are bail bond amounts set?
Dallas Bail Bonds Amounts are set by Judges/Magistrates. The Dallas County Judge has the option to use a standard bail schedule that specifies the bail bonds amounts for the most common crimes, or the Judge can make the determination of bail amount on a case-by-case basis. If bail is set, the defendant has the option to post the full bail bond amount or use a Surety (Dallas Bail Bonds agent) to post the bail bond.
